Bear Grylls resort opens
Bear Grylls, clocked up a new ‘first’ yesterday – when a leading European holiday resort opened a ‘survival academy’ named after the celebrated adventurer and Sorted columnist.
Located in Halkidiki, one of the most beautiful parts of Greece and overlooking the Aegean sea, the backers of the venture are promising ‘an exhilarating expedition where guests are encouraged to push themselves, learn new skills and get hands-on in nature’.
From 1 June, a 1,000-acre ecological reserve, with expansive woodlands and wetlands, is now welcoming adventurers who want to immerse themselves in the great outdoors.
A hand-picked team of specialist instructors will run the Bear Grylls Survival Academy helping visitors learn expert survival skills. These will range from learning how to build shelters and fires, navigating and signaling for help, to discovering the world of astro navigation on a night walk through the woodlands.
And it will be of particular appeal to families, with children as young as eight-years-old catered for by the Sani-based team.
