Sir Anthony Hopkins, one of the greatest actors of his generation, has opened up about what can only be described as a miracle event in his life.
He has revealed to followers of his Twitter social media account how he has remained sober for 45 years.
The Oscar-winning Welsh actor, now aged 82, battled alcoholism during his early career, going teetotal following a talk with a woman from Alcoholics Anonymous in December 1975.
The woman asked him: ‘Why don't you just trust in God?’
From that moment, the urge to drink was ‘never to return’.
Sir Anthony recently posted a video on Twitter, saying 2020 had been a year ‘full of grief and sadness’ but urging those struggling not to give up.
