Trent Alexander-Arnold, the brilliant Liverpool fullback, is one of a new breed of footballers who take their social justice responsibilities very seriously.
Like Manchester United's Marcus Rashford, Arnold ensures that he remains involved in the issues that matter – with foodbanks particularly close to his heart.

Named as the best right back in the game, the 22-year-old was included in the FIFA/Fifpro World XI and is a first-team regular at Anfield.

He is the first scouser since Steven Gerrard, his childhood idol, to have captained the team, and off the pitch, he takes his responsibilities as a role model seriously.

‘As a footballer, you’re under a lot of scrutiny at all times,’ he said in an interview with The Telegraph. ‘So being someone that kids can look up to is now a 24/7 role.’

Foodbanks are a special priority for him, and he added: ‘It’s big for me especially at a time like this, in winter, with so many people struggling after a horrendous year.’
