It has been a question human beings have been asking since time began: how do we make and keep ourselves happy?
\nIf we are to believe the media \u2013 particularly certain TV programmes and the marketing world \u2013 modern-day \u2018happiness\u2019 increasingly seems to be centred around possessing material things and being seen to be \u2018successful\u2019.<\/p>\n

Yet a new study of middle-aged Brits \u2013 men and women aged between 50-75 \u2013 would appear to turn that assumption on its head. For, according to respondents, the answer to happiness would appear to be a lot simpler than we all envisage.<\/p>\n

Almost 48 per cent of all respondents (and 60 per cent of men) say \u2018loving\u2019 and \u2018being loved\u2019 helps them to live their happiest life.<\/p>\n

Having \u2018knowledge\u2019 \u2013 something typically acquired as we get older \u2013 also registered highly in the study of 1,000 individuals from across the UK, as did having \u2018wealth\u2019, which was one of the two least important factor in achieving a happy life.<\/p>\n
