\u2018Dancing\u2019 Des Coleman \u2013 the popular ITV weatherman \u2013 is urging men from Britain\u2019s BME communities to stop putting off getting checked for prostate cancer.
\nThe former West End singer and actor, who now plies his trade in ITV\u2019s Central region, is urging men, particularly those who are African-Caribbean, to heed the warning signs and not put the test off until a rainy day.<\/p>\n

And Des knows what he is talking about \u2013 after surviving THREE separate cancer battles.<\/p>\n

\u2018I know a thing or two about cancer, you know,\u2019 he said at the start of the #PlayDominoTalkProstate initiative launched by the Leicester-based Centre for BME Health.<\/p>\n

\u2018I was at drama school, minding my own business, and cancer tried to get me. But we caught it early and a couple of years later it came back again, and I caught it early and then a couple of years ago I had it in my stomach but guess what, we caught it early again.<\/p>\n

\u2018Everybody can get it \u2013 but one in four black guys can get it.<\/p>\n
