There's a famous seaside place called Blackpool
<\/strong>That's noted for fresh air and fun
<\/strong>And Mr. and Mrs. Ramsbottom
<\/strong>Went there with young Albert, their son
<\/strong>A grand little lad were young Albert
<\/strong>All dressed in his best, quite a swell
<\/strong>With a stick with an horse's head handle
<\/strong>The finest that Woolworth's could sell
<\/strong>They didn't think much to the ocean
<\/strong>The waves they were piddlin' and small
<\/strong>There was no wrecks and nobody drowneded
<\/strong>'Fact, nothin' to laugh at at all!
<\/strong>So, seeking for further amusement
<\/strong>They paid, and went into the zoo
<\/strong>Where they'd lions and tigers and camels
<\/strong>And old ale and sandwiches, too
<\/strong>There were one great big lion called Wallace
<\/strong>His nose was all covered with scars
<\/strong>He lay in a somnolent posture
<\/strong>With the side of 'is face on the bars
<\/strong>Now Albert had heard about lions
<\/strong>How they was ferocious and wild
<\/strong>To see Wallace lyin' so peaceful
<\/strong>Well it didn't seem right to the child
<\/strong>So straightway the brave little feller
<\/strong>Not showin' a morsel of fear
<\/strong>Took 'is stick with the horse's head handle
<\/strong>And shoved it in Wallace's ear
<\/strong>You could see that the lion didn't like it
<\/strong>For givin' a kind of a roll
<\/strong>He pulled Albert inside the cage with him
<\/strong>And swallowed the little lad whole!
<\/strong>Then Pa, who had seen the occurrence
<\/strong>And didn't know what to do next
<\/strong>Said \"Mother, yon lion's ate Albert!\"
<\/strong>And Mother said \"Ee, I am vexed\"
<\/strong>Then Mr. and Mrs. Ramsbottom, quite rightly
<\/strong>When all is said and done
<\/strong>Complained to the animal keeper
<\/strong>That the lion had eaten their son
<\/strong>The keeper was quite nice about it
<\/strong>He said \"What a nasty mishap
<\/strong>Are you sure that it's your boy he's eaten?\"
<\/strong>Pa said, \"Am I sure? There's his cap!\"
<\/strong>The manager had to be sent for
<\/strong>He came and he said \"What's to-do?\"
<\/strong>Pa said \"Yon lion's ate Albert
<\/strong>And him in his Sunday clothes, too!\"
<\/strong>Then Mother said \"Right's right, young feller-
<\/strong>I think it's a shame and a sin
<\/strong>For a lion to go and eat Albert
<\/strong>And after we paid to come in\"
<\/strong>The manager wanted no trouble
<\/strong>He took out his purse right away
<\/strong>Sayin' \"How much to settle the matter?\"
<\/strong>Pa says \"What do you usually pay?\"
<\/strong>But Mother had turned a bit awkward
<\/strong>When she thought where her Albert had gone
<\/strong>She said \"No, someone's got to be summonsed!\"
<\/strong>So that was decided upon
<\/strong>Then off they went to the police station
<\/strong>In front of the Magistrate chap
<\/strong>They told him what happened to Albert
<\/strong>And proved it by showing his cap
<\/strong>The Magistrate gave his opinion
<\/strong>That no one was really to blame
<\/strong>And he said that he hoped the Ramsbottoms
<\/strong>Would have further sons to their name
<\/strong>At that Mother got proper blazin'
<\/strong>\"And thank you, sir, kindly, \" said she-
<\/strong>\"What, waste all our lives raisin' children
<\/strong>To feed ruddy lions? Not me!\"<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
